The Michael Caine is Boring! Illustrated (1974)

Notes:One of the great purchases of my gap year, and an early inspiration in starting this library archive project. This is one thing I love to share with people for its utter ridiculousness and even heartfelt writing and illustrations. I’m particularly fond of God and a Small Black Lump. 

I don’t know much about John Dowie other than he was a comedian in England active in the 60s and 70s and I can’t find any record of Michael Caine is Boring online anywhere. The friend who was with me when I found this publication DM’d him on twitter (he’s still active on Twitter apparently) to ask about this zine, and I seem to remember him responding that he self published in 1974 to hand out for free at a stand up gig in London. I might should reach out to him to follow up for details. I just checked his Twitter and in a recent post he was promoting a #BanOctopusFarming petition.
